Symptoms of Depression


Many times in our lives we are sure to have said that today I am feeling down or low or this week has been too taxing on me. We might also say that I am feeling depressed today. It is alright to feel low once in a while, as life can become overwhelming at times. Everyday stress can sometimes feel too heavy and cause us to feel down emotionally. This is also true when one is faced with a disturbing emotional situation like the loss of a loved one, chronic illness, examination, rejections or being fired from a job. The feeling of being lonely, dejected, upset, sad all at once is a phase that almost everyone goes through at least once in life. And one might be in this phase for a few days to a few weeks. This is considered medically normal as people usually get out ofthis phase soon enough.

But the problem starts when this feeling persists for more than that. This is than sending red signals about our emotional health. This than is called clinical depression which requires special care and attention. Depression in this case eventually becomes so severe that it starts interfering in the persons daily routine. Most of he times the person suffering is aware of being depressed but in many cases it is possible that the person may be completely unaware that it is a health problem. Studies show that as many as 5 in every 100 person are suffering from some or the other form of depression. In most cases the persons recovers without any medical intevention. But in many cases medical help is required.

The important thing to know is that it can be cured. Many people have successfully battled depression and have come out victorious. The first step to deal with this situation is to acknowledge the problem and create a positive frame of mind to tackle the disease.
