Why You Should Include Pomegranate, Mango, & Pineapple in Your Diet!


Before discussing why these fruits are good for you, let’s discus what is the best time to eat fruits and other important aspects of eating fruits. According to Ayurveda one should eat fruit on an empty stomach, a head of meal. When you learn to eat fruits at the right time it adds to your health, longevity, health, energy, happiness plus helps you maintain weight. If you feel like drinking fruit juice drink fresh fruit juice, never from cans. Canned juice is heated, and most nutrients get lost during the process plus added sugar and preservatives do more harm than you know. Likewise don’t cook fruits before eating as cooking destroys the nutrients. Prefer to eat whole fruit than juice any day as when you eat fruit you are also consuming fibers which help in your digestion.

You can do a fruit fasting for three days when all you eat and drink is fruits and fruit juices. Three days is all it takes to cleanse the body and add radiance to skin.

It is good to eat two cups of fruits every day. But most people don’t. As a result of this they become prone to health conditions like weight issues, type2 diabetes etc. Whereas people who stick to the fruit eating routine lead a healthier life and enjoy several other benefits that come from eating fruits.  While some fruits like apple, orange, bananas are simpler to eat, fruits like pineapple or pomegranate are tricky as they take long to peel and make it ready to eat.  But they’re important because as they are full of nutritients.

Pineapple: One cup of freshly cut pineapple cubes for example (which has thorny skin) contains a mere 82 calories and more than 100 percent of the daily value of vitamin C.  Bedsides they are rich in mineral manganese and the anti-inflammatory enzymes. All you need to do is learn the right technique to cut and peel the fruit and once learnt well it is not all that difficult. But eat this one, you must! The biggest advantage of this thick thorny outer skin is that it doesn’t let pesticides enter inside the fruit as easily. That is the reason pineapple is also counted high in the list of clean fruits.

Mango: Mangos are a great source of vitamins A and C, offering potent antioxidant benefits. Easy to peel cut or squeeze unlike the pineapple. Add it to smoothies, make a shake, you can add them to salad or curds.

Pomegranate: Seeds of this fruit are the only eatable part of this fruit unlike Mango seed which in non-eatable. Pomegranate seeds are full of vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants which protect us from oxidative damage leading to heart conditions and some types of cancers. One cup of pomegranate seeds provides 3.5 grams of fiber; known to control appetite, look after digestive function and health of your heart.
